A calorie counter with no ads. On any plan.
PlateStack is a free calorie counter for iPhone and Android with no ads on Starter or Premium. We charge for Premium instead of selling attention, so the free version is simply the log, with nothing in the way.
Free to start on iPhone and Android. Premium is $1.99 a month or $14.99 a year, and both plans begin with a seven-day free trial for new subscribers where available. No ads. No data sales.
Just the log.
No banners, no interstitials, on Starter or Premium.
Why is PlateStack ad free?
Because we chose to charge for Premium instead. Ads would have given the app a second customer, the advertiser, and we only wanted one: the person logging.
So there are no ads on Starter, and none on Premium. Premium is $1.99 a month or $14.99 a year, and the free tier is paid for by the people who choose it, not by selling attention or data.
-
No ads on any plan
Starter and Premium look the same where it matters: your log, with nothing between you and it.
-
No data sales
PlateStack does not sell your data or use it for advertising.
-
A quiet website too
This site uses no advertising pixels, no behavioural analytics, and no tracking cookies.
Is there an ad-free calorie counter that is also free?
Yes. PlateStack Starter is free forever, and the calorie counting core lives there: unlimited food search, barcode scanning, and manual entry, quick calories when you only know the number, and unlimited saved foods, meals, and recipes.
Starter also covers the rest of the day. Strength and cardio logging, weight and measurements, hydration, a fasting timer, and three custom habits are all free. Progress charts show the last 30 days, and Premium opens the full history.
How fast is logging calories in PlateStack?
Fast enough that you keep doing it, which is the only speed that matters. The quick actions sheet puts search, barcode, and quick calories beside the optional AI paths: a photo of the plate, a nutrition label, or your voice. You can also describe a meal in plain words, and your recent, frequent, and favorite foods sit one tap away.
Starter includes five AI credits a month shared across those four AI paths; Premium includes them, metered on our server rather than unlimited. Each estimate is labeled and stays editable until you save it, since a photo of a plate is a guess, not a measurement.
What happens to my food log?
It stays yours. Food and label photos are stored privately in your account until you delete them. Apple Health on iPhone and Health Connect on Android are optional, and PlateStack only asks for access when you choose to connect.
Export and account deletion are both inside the app, on every plan. The privacy policy and the health data notice spell out exactly what is collected and why.
What does Premium add?
Premium is $1.99 a month or $14.99 a year, about $1.25 a month on annual. It adds PlateStack Coach and AI logging included, meal plan drafts, and long-term history. It does not add an ad-free mode, because Starter already is one.
